About Jean

Jean Pennington is a self-taught artist, who has been painting seriously for about 12 years. She has her own small gallery in mid-Devon and has had several successful solo exhibitions, as well as exhibiting with the local art group with many paintings now dispersed to private collections in the UK and around the globe.

Jean was born in Devon, growing up on a farm as a child, and now married to a farmer so naturally many of her paintings reflect her rural and agricultural background. She works mostly in pastel, watercolour or mixed media and her colours are soft and sympathetic to the subjects she paints. Her wide ranging subjects include landscapes, seascapes, portraits of both people and animals, and botanical.

There is a permanent exhibition of paintings at Jeans Gallery near Copplestone.
